Description

LSU DMAE (Digital Media Arts & Engineering program), Computer Science, The College of Art & Design, and the College of Engineering invite LSU students interested in competing in the world's largest student led game jam to be part of the LSU Chillennium 2023 team. LSU will provide entrance to Chillennium, lodging and transportation. No prior experience is necessary as for many this is the first game they have ever made.

The first 20 students registered will earn a spot on the trip and will have the honor of representing a LSU DMAE team during the jam. Chillennium Game Jam provides breakfast, lunch and dinner during the Jam. Last year was our third trip and an LSU team won first place! It is not only a chance to meet similar students from around the country but to interact with game professionals and find out what a job in the games industry might be like.

Trip Dates

Transportation will leave LSU Digital Media Center at approx. 8:00AM on Friday, Februaray. 24th and return Monday, February 27th by approx. 1:00PM.

What is Chillennium?

Chillennium is an annual 48 hour student game jam that takes place at Texas A&M University. Organized for students, by students, this unique event brings participants from universities across the nation together to collaborate with experienced industry professionals and compete for awesome prizes! Teams ranging from 1 to 4 participants will be given a common theme and will then have 48 hours to plan, design, and develop a video game from scratch. Artists, programmers, and designers are all invited! No previous knowledge about games is needed, just a passion for creation!

Games will be judged by a team of industry professionals and sponsors. Judging will begin immediately following the game jam's ending. Games will be ranked on a scale from 0 to 5 for their Innovation, Quality, and Completeness in the categories of Programming, Art, Design, and Sound for a total maximum score of 60. The three teams with the highest overall scores will be awarded the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for Best Overall Game. Additional prizes will be awarded to the teams with the highest individual scores in Programming, Art, Design, and Sound. To encourage innovation, there is also an award for VR.
